The following directions are directions to Pittsburgh Pastoral Institutes Main Office in the Shadyside area of Pittsburgh, PA. To find directions to our other offices please visit the locations page of our website and plot directions from your starting point.
Please Note: There is free parking on the street or in the parking lot of Calvary Episcopal Church on the corner of Shady and Marchand. (PPI clients may use the lot, even though it says “Church Members Only.”)
Directions from the North
Take Interstate 79S to 279S to the Veterans Bridge/Interstate 579.
Exit the Veterans Bridge at 6th / 7th Street exit.
Stay in left lane. Turn left to Mellon Arena.
Follow sign to Bigelow Boulevard (PA-380E) .
Take Bigelow Boulevard to Baum Boulevard /PA-380E.
Turn left onto Baum Boulevard.
Turn right onto Penn Circle West /PA-380E.
Turn left onto Penn Circle S/PA-380E (Center Avenue).
Turn right onto Penn Avenue /PA-380E
Turn right onto Shady Avenue.
Turn left onto Marchand Street.
#6324 is second house on right.
Parking available in Calvary Episcopal Church parking lot.
Directions from the South
From the Fort Pitt Tunnel:
After exiting the tunnel, take the first ramp to the right (to I - 376 / Monroeville.)
Exit 376 at the Squirrel Hill exit (just before the Squirrel Hill Tunnel).
Take the first left (Forward Avenue) into Squirrel Hill.
Veer slightly to the right at the first light (this is still Forward Avenue).
Take a left onto Shady Avenue at the second light. (You are now 3 miles from the PPI.)
Travel 3 miles on Shady to Marchand Street. (Marchand is ¼ mile past Fifth and Shady.)
Turn right on Marchand, PPI is the 2nd house on the right. (6324)
From the Liberty Tunnel:
After exiting the tunnel, cross the Liberty Bridge and take the first right at the end of the Bridge onto the Boulevard of the Allies
Follow the signs to I – 376 / Monroeville.
Exit 376 at the Squirrel Hill exit—and follow the above directions from that point.

Parkway directions:
Take 376 W to the Edgewood/Swissvale exit.
Turn right onto Braddock Ave; take Braddock Ave to Forbes Avenue.
Turn left onto Forbes Avenue.
At Forbes Avenue and Shady Avenue, turn right onto Shady Avenue.
Take Shady Avenue across 5th Avenue, next light will be Walnut Street and Shady.
Turn right after you cross Walnut Street off of Shady Ave onto Marchand Street (6324).
You can park in the church lot or on the street.
Non Parkway directions:
Take Penn Avenue to Shady Avenue; turn left on Shady Ave.
Marchand will be the second left turn, after you pass Giant Eagle.
From Frankstown Road, head west towards East Liberty.
Turn left onto East Liberty Boulevard; take East Liberty to Penn Ave., then turn right onto Penn Avenue.
Turn left on Shady Ave. Marchand (6324) will be the second left turn, after you pass Giant Eagle.
Route 28 directions:
From 28 North, take 28 South to the Highland Park Bridge Exit (on the bridge, get in the left hand lane).
Take 8 South to Washington Blvd. Turn right onto Washington Blvd.
At Frankstown Road, Washington Blvd turns into Fifth Avenue.
Take Fifth Avenue to Penn Avenue; turn right onto Penn Avenue.
Take Penn Avenue to Shady Avenue; turn left on Shady Ave.
Marchand (6324) will be the second left turn, after you pass Giant Eagle.

Take I-376/Airport Parkway/Orange Belt toward Pittsburgh
After going through the Ft. Pitt tunnel, follow signs toward Monroeville
Take the Forbes Ave. exit
Make a left onto S. Bellefield Ave (The Cathedral of Learning and Heinz Chapel will be on your left)
Take the 2nd right onto Fifth Ave.
Follow Fifth Ave. and then make a left onto Shady Ave.
Turn right onto Marchand Street (just beyond the intersection of Walnut St. and Shady Ave)
