Art is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with more than 30 years of experience providing behavioral health therapy and counseling services. Art has worked in a variety of treatment settings as both a clinician and administrator, including inpatient hospitals, residential treatment programs, partial hospital and intensive outpatient programs, and traditional outpatient settings. Art has served as a field instructor for the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Social Work, from which he earned his MSW. He completed his undergraduate degree in psychology from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA.

Art considers himself a lifelong learner and eager to continually improve his understanding of and approach to human behavior that encompasses psychological, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual considerations. He attained certification in psychodrama training, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (CSI), and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD), which he has provided to hospitals, banks, and large corporations. He has provided advanced training in substance use disorders to the US military. Art’s works primarily with individual adults 18 and over but also with distressed couples and families.

Within the context of individual psychotherapy, Art works closely with each person to identify their primary concerns and reasons for seeking therapy and to develop mutually agreeable goals that are realistic and attainable. Art’s clinical style is active, engaging, and accepting of each person’s starting point while always promoting a sense of hope and encouraging change, even at its most difficult.

Art and his wife Jan are lifelong Pittsburghers who are parents to an adult daughter and a Great Pyrenees rescue named Polaris. You may also see Art hanging around hobby shops due to his enjoyment of model railroading and miniature modeling.
