Murphy, Donna


Donna is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a graduate of Carlow University with a Master’s in Professional Counseling and a BA in History.

Donna enjoys working with individuals of all ages, couples, and families. Her approach is person-centered and strength-based. She believes that healing takes place in a safe, trusting, therapeutic relationship and she is attentive to developmental, stages of life, and spiritual needs.

Donna’s areas of expertise are trauma-informed therapy, complex trauma (survivors of childhood sexual abuse), posttraumatic stress, and domestic violence. Other areas of experience include intercultural issues, relationship issues, LGBTQ issues, conflict resolution/mediation, mood disorders, and addictions counseling.

Therapeutic approaches Donna has used include a constructivist empowerment model of trauma therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. Groups she has facilitated include a Depression Group (ACT), Women’s Trauma Group (process), Understanding PTSD (psychoeducational), Journaling, Stress Management through the Arts and Meditation.
