John R White, PhD, is both a professor of philosophy and a practicing psychotherapist. Besides having a Masters in counseling from the Franciscan University of Steubenville OH and working toward his counseling licensure, Dr. White is also an analyst candidate in the C G Jung Analytic Training Program in Pittsburgh PA. Dr. White is a candidate member of the Interregional Society of Jungian Analysts and an associate member of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis.


Dr. White’s primary training is in Jungian, psychodynamic and other depth-oriented traditions. He approaches therapy in a wholistic way, helping the client to become attuned to the needs of spirit, soul and body. Dr. White is also well acquainted with many traditions of Christian spirituality, especially with the practices of St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises. Dr. White has worked at the Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute since 2010.
