Debra holds a Masters degree in Social Work from West Virginia University. Since her graduation in 1982 she has worked as a licensed social worker in a variety of settings with a variety of populations. Her experience includes working with older adults, teens, children and families. In 1990 she felt a call into the ministry and began attending seminary at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Drew University. She was ordained a Deacon in Full Connection in the Western PA Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2002. She is an intern with Gestalt Pastoral Care Associates and a member of the Spiritual Director’s International.

Debra’s philosophy in counseling is that within each of us is the power and desire to be a whole and authentic person. Debra uses Gestalt, CBT and other therapeutic techniques to companion her clients through the healing process. She is passionate about working with people in all kinds of transitions: school to work, marriage to divorce, grief work, relocation, career changes, etc. She also has a heart for those who experience life from the margins; LGBT, Sexually Abused, and others.

Spiritually, Debra believes in tolerance and love and embraces openness to all forms of spiritual growth. She believes that “bidden or unbidden, God is present” and seeks to uncover the divine in the ordinary.
