Joanne originally trained as a nurse at the former St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. She later obtained her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Theology from Carlow University, Pittsburgh, PA.. and then went on to pursue a Masters in Social Work degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Divinity degree from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
Joanne has worked as a Clinical Social Worker at the Pittsburgh Pastoral Institute for 12 years. In addition to her counseling work, she serves as the Clinical Director, supervises students, and leads the recently developed Clergy and Congregation Program. This program offers workshops, training, and consultation services to churches and congregations throughout the greater Pittsburgh area.
Joanne started working at PPI in August 1999. She has been trained in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Systems, which inform her approach to the counseling process. In addition, she addresses an individual's concerns from a wholistic approach centered on the mind, body and spirit connection, supporting PPI's mission to integrate spirituality and psychotherapy. Joanne provides counseling services to individuals dealing with:
